WayV (威神V, WeiShen V) is the fourth sub-unit, and the China based unit of the Hallyu localization project group, NCT. The unit is composed of seven members: Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang. SM Entertainment first introduced the group on August 13, 2018, as NCT China. On December 31, 2018, it was announced that the seven member line-up would debut as WayV in January 2019, under SM Entertainment's China-exclusive label, Label V.
2016–2018: Pre-debut
All seven members of WayV were originally part of SM Rookies, a pre-debut training team maintained by SM Entertainment. In January 2016, SM founder Lee Soo-man announced plans for a new boy group, with several different units to be based in cities around the world. They debuted with the first unit, NCT U, on April 10, 2016. Winwin debuted as part of the 2nd unit, NCT 127, on July 7, 2016. Kun and Lucas were announced as new members of NCT 2018 and NCT U respectively. WayV was first announced on August 13, 2018, via NCT's Twitter, under the project name, NCT China. It was confirmed their debut and real name to be revealed in late 2018.[1] On October 15, SM announced that the unit would debut with an all-Chinese lineup in November 2018, with Chinese market promotions beginning in 2019.
On December 31, SM Entertainment announced NCT's fourth unit, "WayV" (威神V)" through the unit's official Weibo account. The unit consists of 7 members: Kun, Winwin, Ten, Lucas, Hendery, Xiaojun and Yangyang. The group was announced to be under SM Entertainment's new China-exclusive label Label V.
2019: Debut
On January 17, WayV released their first digital EP, The Vision, with a Chinese version of NCT 127's "Regular" as the lead single.- Wikipedia
